Fourth of July

While Jedi power is measured in midichlorians, jaundice is measured in bilirubens.  The Force makes you awesome.  Jaundice makes you yellow (and not 1/4 Japanese yellow).  The doctor today said that your biliruben score was 12 and going up.   The cure for Jedi is Executive Order 66.  The cure for Jaundice is to go bake under special suntan lamps in an incubator overnight.  So we packed your bags and took you back to Stanford hospital for your billy treatment.  Here you are tanning under the lights.

The on-call nurse was very thoughtful and nice and put us all at ease.  Notice how calm you look?  Just chillin' in the climate controlled billy-box.  This is one of the first times we got a good look at you because at home we bundled you up to keep you warm.  Here is another photo.  You are wearing a sleep mask to protect your eyes from the lights.  Daddy think you look futuristic like TRON.  Tron 2.0 came out the year you were born.  Dad was hoping the movie would rock... if you were a boy, he might have named you Flynn.

The picture below is from the next morning.  You were no longer yellow and passed your billy test.  All this while remaining a quarter Japanese.
So that was your adventures with conquering jaundice.  Your increasing midichlorian count, manifestation of Jedi powers, and mastery of The Force is a tale for another fourth of July.

  1. Poignant and funny. Helps me get a grip on how challenging and stressful those first few days were.
